United States

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) was designated the Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission pursuant to section 215 of the Federal Power Act. The ERO is responsible for developing and enforcing a technically sufficient set of mandatory reliability standards for the electric industry. These reliability standards define the requirements for planning and operating the Bulk Power System (BPS) and are applicable to those that own, operate and use the interconnected BPS. See the full list of NERC Reliability Standards.
