Reporting to the MRO Board, the Standards Committee shall ensure that:

• Midwest Reliability Organizational Standards are consistent with current NERC Standards.
• All requests for new or modifications to, Midwest Reliability Organization Standards are processed using the Midwest Reliability Organization’s Standards process.
• The Midwest Reliability Organization’s Standards Process documentation is maintained (MRO Manual section 4.3.1)
• New, or modifications to, Midwest Reliability Organization Standards are presented for adoption to the Midwest Reliability Organization Board upon recommendation of the Midwest Reliability Organization Balloting Pool.
• Coordination of the efforts of the MRO with the efforts of NERC is effected, including periodic review of NERC standards and their applicability to Members.
• Recommendations are made to the Midwest Reliability Organization Board for regional representatives to the NERC standing committees (Operating, Planning, and Market).
• Recommendations are made to the MRO Board Chair for regional representatives to the NERC subcommittees, working groups, and task forces that address standards development issues.
• Assign the development of the standard to a Standard Drafting Team.
• Develop criteria and certification processes for Balancing, Interchange, and Reliability Authorities, and for Transmission Operators and others as needed.
